Celebrating the 20th anniversary of Dirty Old Hip Hop, this repress of Marc Mac‘s Visioneers project showcases the 4Hero producer turning his hand to recording songs designed to invoke the original spirit of beloved samples used by various hip-hop producers including J Dilla, Pete Rock and Jazzy Jeff. “Runnin'” encapsulates the concept with consummate charm, as Mac manages to channel both the underdog spirit of The Pharcyde’s song of the same title and the original ’60s Brazilian jazz sample source.
